Course overview and duration

Equality and diversity – which is embedded within current society and modern working practice – is also enshrined by Law. This course introduces the key issues in equality and diversity, and explains why they their implementation is essential to both the organisation and to the individual. It is a one-day course.

Who will benefit from this course?

Every person within the workplace has a duty and responsibility with regard to equality and diversity. Accordingly, this course is relevant to people from all every professional background, working within all areas and at every level.

What you will learn:

  • Acknowledge the organisation’s position on equality and diversity, and understand what that means to the individual in practice.
  • Understand the differences between equality and diversity.
  • Understand the key components of the Equalities legislation, including Protected Characteristics and different types of discrimination.
  • Identify four examples of positive equality and diversity practices within this organisation during this session.
  • Work within the legislation framework that serves to protect all people.
  • Understand how equality and diversity positively impact upon the individual, the organisation, and the services it provides.
  • Identify legal obligations and know when to challenge the unfair treatment of others.
  • Gain skills for working fairly and inclusively with colleagues and customers.
